Biography: Jane Grey was an English noblewoman best known as the "Nine Day's Queen" for her brief period on the English throne.

She was chosen by King Edward VI's closest advisors in an effort to prevent Mary I from ascending the throne. Jane Grey was seen as an excellent Protestant choice, whereas Mary was a staunch Catholic likely to act against the Reformation.

Grey remained on the throne only from the 10th of July until the 19th. She was then deposed by a military force arranged by Mary, who subsequently took the throne and ultimately had Grey executed.
