Nigeria’s currency, the Naira, has again regained some value against the US dollar at the parallel market. Naija News understands that the dollar slipped against Naira on Friday, with the local currency exchanging below N1000 in the parallel market. The Naira has been regaining its ground against the widely patronized US currency in the last few weeks, a development considered remarkable since it exchanged above N1000. From ₦1,150 in the parallel market on Thursday, the dollar exchanged for N950 on Friday evening and below in the morning, gaining over N200.

The main opposition party of Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC), wants President Jonathan to cancel the political rally in Adamawa State being scheduled for April 29, 2014, Tuesday. The APC noted the president should stay away from celebrations unless 200 abducted schoolgirls would have been rescued.  According to the statement dated April 24, 2014, Thursday, issued in Lagos by the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the president must not repeat the mistake he committed less than 24 hours after the deadly Abuja bomb blast.
